Monty Python goes all web 2.0

3 Feb

We all love YouTube, but god it’s full of some truly low-quality sh*t, including classic Monty Python. In response to those rogue uploaders (you know who you are!), the Monty Python crew have hit back with their very own YouTube channel. Genius. These clips are a hellova lot classier than the user-uploaded dregs. Monty Python have kicked it all off with this hilarious launch video.

But wait, they’ve asked their fans for a little something in return…

“None of your drivelling mindless comments. Instead we want you to click on the links, buy our movies & TV shows and soften our pain and disgust at being ripped off all these years.”

And the online viewers are now actually turning into paying customers! While many fear free online content, Monty Python have simply embraced it, and done a damn good job at that. They could have sued the nuts off YouTube, instead, they turned the whole thing around and most importantly, made their fans very happy. The gamble has paid off with sales up a whopping 23 percent.

Take note and embrace the positive side of free online content.
