Dove Spoof – Talk to your daughter before Unilever does

And so to every great ad, there is a spoof to follow. It seems Dove’s do-gooder attitude is starting to back fire on them. The ad may be thought-provoking and beautifully executed, but they are part of the beauty industry after all!

Call me nieve, but I think Dove had good intentions and it doesn’t seem too false coming from them. But as this spoof rightly points out they are part of Unilever which includes brand like Axe (Lynx). These ads show daughters who certainly did NOT have this conversation with their mothers. The take out – “talk to your daughter before Unilever does”.

    OH man, I as an ad student, I’m conflicted. Onslaught is better then nothing but in ad circles the conflict has been known for a while…

    Wait till the internet finds out Uni also markets a WHITENING CREAM FOR WOMEN IN INDIA…

    nice one nic, did you see some of the comments on the Dove Facebook site pointing this out. Whilst brands are learning to be more interesting and holistic, their holding companies are recklessly vulnerable to the exacting transparency that modern comms demands. Far too many eyes that see and mouths that speak.
