What was rumoured to be the next Sony Bravia spot ‘Foam City’ - is actually Sony’s new spot for their line of camcorders and cameras. Found via Angus.

Their PR team at Immediate Future worked hard to give bloggers exclusive content, and even flew bloggers around the world to the shoot of the ad.

Check it out. Stunning or just plain froth?

In 2005 they dropped 250,000 super balls on San Francisco, in 2006 they blew up 70,000 liters of paint in Glascow, in 2007 they released 2.5 tons of Play-Doh bunnies in New York City, and in 2008 they filled a Miami street with 460 million liters of foam. Whatever next?! Is this trick getting a bit old now?

Sony created a buzz to build suspense in advance of the launch of the new ad by leaking footage through bloggers and on YouTube. Here’s where all the excitement started…

Why would anybody seek out Quaker online? Well in all honesty there wasn’t much of an incentive until their recent re-haul - they have launched the Quaker blog to reflect their brand ambitions.

People who eat Quaker for breakfast tend to feel hungry after a hefty 4 hours 21 minutes. That’s why their product truth ‘make the most of your morning’ makes perfect sense.

The blog itself moves away from information about Quaker oats. Rather it provides useful and interesting information which allows people to make the most of their mornings. It also looks clean and simple which I like.

Created by AMV BBDO - yep I work there but not really on this project.

Like any new blog, Quaker are in the early days of their exciting new blog adventure. You have to give them kudos for speaking out and opening the lines of communication with their consumers (yes comments are open). In the spirit of openness, all comments / feedback welcome please…

My first blog b-day

January 29, 2008

Picture from here.

Yes that’s right, today I am just 1 in the world of blogging! Wowser. On January 29th 2007 I decided to start a blog - mainly because I was constantly emailing around “stuff” and thought it might make sense to put all these random thoughts of mine into a blog. And to my surprise some people actually read it!

So it all started as simply a destination for my ramblings, I had no idea I was about to embark on an exciting journey of learning and growing, but most importantly connecting with lots of interesting people - in the virtual and real world. And I feel this journey of mine has only just begun.

A lot has changed in a year - I moved around a bit and finally found my feet at AMV BBDO, made it into the top 27 bloggers under 27 (at the tender age of 23!), and worked on some innovative campaigns (e.g. Guinness). And there’s a hellova lot more to look forward to in the coming year.

So thanks, as always, for reading, commenting, sharing, linking.

Did I just blog about blogging? Shame on me…

Yep that’s right, today is the day bloggers from around the world unite to blog about the environment - to get talking about a better future. Obviously I had planned on writing a long interesting insightful post about something green, but this day arrived too quickly. So instead I’m going to post this hilarious ‘green’ clip “Sex Party” from Virgin Trains. Okay, so this viral isn’t going to combat climate change, but it will get people talking which is the point of blog action day I believe.

By Glue.

Check out Anthony, Neil, and 360 Digest, for taking the time to write great green posts for todays event. Worth reading theirs instead ;o)

Respect to Daniel over at AdStructure for giving recognition to us young bloggers. Chuffed (and shocked) to make the list and great to explore even more exciting blogs. Oh yeah, and extra thanks to Amelia who inspired me to start blogging in the first place…

Blog Action Day!

August 29, 2007

action_468x60.jpg

On October 15th, bloggers around the web will unite to put a single important issue on everyone’s mind - the environment. Every blogger will post about the environment in their own way and relating to their own topic. Our aim is to get everyone talking towards a better future.

I have already written several green posts myself, so I’m more than happy to get involved and do my bit for Blog Action day (October 15th). It’s a subject that is really starting to hit home with me. And I’d like to think we can all help make a difference. I’m not sure one day is enough, but if it gets people talking and word-of-mouth spreads, then it’s definitely a good thing. Much better than another celeb packed concert which just helps to ruin the environment!

Website and blog here, sign up to help here…originally found via Mashable.

Here’s the niiiice video promoting it…

Go on. Bloggers unite. Get involved!

What at first  seems like just another YouTube clip, is actually one of life’s little mysteries…

This mysterious home-movie style trailer by J. J. Abrams was played before the Transformers movie. What begins as a seemingly normal video of a going away party, evolves into an explosion of some sort and lots of mad confusion all around! The film doesn’t even have a title at the moment, just a release date 1 18 08, though it has also been nick-named the Cloverfield project.

The interesting thing about it all is the online conversation that has sparked as a result - here, here, and here are just a few examples. Not to mention over 2 million results on Google. The website is just as vague, but there are related sites popping up all over the place - including Cloverfield news, ethanhaaswaswrong, ethanhaaswasright, and even Slusho which I believe is a fake Japanese slurpy. This is related somehow, and supposodely first featured in J. J. Abrams’s show Alias.

The blogosphere is going seriously crazy trying to solve the clues that are popping up as to what it’s all about. It seems the lack of knowledge has only made it more intriguing. Even for me! Some are speculating this could be the finale to Lost on the big screen. Which would be great! Others say it’s the next Godzilla movie. Er, lets hope not.

May be all this talk is a load of rubbish, but to be honest who cares. The over interest is this is quite fascinating enough to me.

Whatever it is, a seemingly smart move by Paramount - they must be on to something…

So we recently saw the Interbrand top 100 global brands. But with the changing digital landscape, what are the top brands in social media? Brands are getting talked about online - positive and negative, and increasingly consumers are spoofing ads and playing rough with brands online. I came across this interesting ‘Brands in Social Media’ report, by immediate future, which looks at the performance of the Interbrand top 100 brands in online brand conversations in the social media landscape.

Managing director of immediate future, Katy Howell, says…

“It is clear from our research that a brand’s economic success offline does not necessarily translate to a strong, positive share of voice online. Reputations are increasingly being made and destroyed on the web.”

So anyway, here are the results for the top 25 most discussed brands via immediate future…

brand-sov2.jpg

There is a noticeable difference between the Interband brand rankings and the consumer perception of brands online. Not too much of a suprise that the big technology brands are leading the way in the digital space. Though apparently all industry sectors have their promoters and detractors online and immediate future found that every top 100 brand was being discussed.

You can also see here the positive and negative balance of brands on social networking sites, such as Facebook.

As you can see Disney is kicking ass here! With Nintendo and Google following. This gives us a little bit more of an insight into online brand conversations. A brand may be talked about a lot online, but this isn’t always positive. The recent McDonalds / Innocent fiasco is an example of this. But it’s nice to see much more pink than grey on this graph don’t you think?!

I’m off skiving again this week to Budapest, less blogging but I’ll be back…

I’ll leave you with Skoda’s tasty new ad that everyone’s talking about. And I have no shame in saying my friend works at Fallon and worked on this. I think it’s fab. And you can see more about the ‘baking of the ad’ here.
