Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for healthy eating and lots of lovely Omega 3, but I’m also against brands deceiving people. With every hype comes a bandwagon, and a brand jumping on it.

So how many slices do you think you need to eat to get your daily amount? Hold on, let me re-phrase that. How many loaves? Which? found that consumers would need to eat more than 11 loaves a day, just to get their daily amount.

It all sounds a bit fishy to me…

Philips ‘Daylight’ - smart bit of technologgy which lets you control the amount of daylight in your room, geared towards hotels and weary travellers. It responds to your movements to change the ambience of the room…pretty darn cool. For the weary travellers, there’s blue light which (apparently) helps alleviate the effects of jet lag. I wonder if there’s a setting for hangovers?!

We could probably do with these in London to combat seasonal affective disorder. Shame it’s 10 years away from production…

Sense and simplicity at the heart…

What a load of rubbish

November 14, 2007

Ooh I love a Google Maps mash-up anyday. Garbage Scout features photos of recyclable items submitted by people, overlayed onto Google Maps. The idea is, if you see people put out reusable stuff with their garbage, so you just snap a picture on your phone, and send an SMS to Garbage Scout. Then you see your picture of the item and description on a Google Map, like below. Neat.

Google maps are free (to anyone) to use and adapt - it’s a great way for a brand to offer customers a relevant service. I’d like to see more stuff like this that’s useful and helps the environment.

Er, not me. Surely this is an insult to our intelligence. Spice Girls are nice enough, but surely a powerful idea and good insight is better. The celebrity and brand values are not remotely connected. It’s great to see how embarrassed they are to be shopping in Tesco - they should also be embarrassed to be in this advert. I’m not saying it will damage the brand, it probably won’t, it just seems like a bit of a cop out to me…

It isn’t even Christmas yet anyway - check it here.

Superhero powers

November 13, 2007

More lovely jubbly interactive digital stuff creeping into the real world - this time from Chris Oshea’s installation at the London Design Museum. This ones quite exciting as it takes you back to your childhood dreams of wanting superhero powers. Unfortunately not flying, but it kind of gives you the ability to look through walls…with an x-ray torch.

Sorry boys it doesn’t work on girls shirts…

Wonder Bra takes on Cadbury

November 12, 2007

Now I love a good spoof, but this is pretty crap if you ask me. Probably because I’m a girl! It just doesn’t do it for me, yawn. I prefer the gorilla any day. The original is way funnier - I think Cadbury does better out of all these crap imitations than the spoofing brands…

Yes, the reality of life in cartoon. I’m dreading Monday already though…
